Beautiful Minds Centre for Child Development (BMCCD) was opened here today by Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries chairman Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu.


The centre is located at opposite Lozi Hyundai showroom, New Secretariat Road, Kohima.


Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Keditsu expressed happiness over the setting up of the Centre and hoped that it will grow progressively and be a blessing to many people.


“We have to be inclusive. We have to be broadminded," he said and stressed on the need to take care of the special children.


He also stressed on the need to encourage the differently abled persons and support them in every possible ways.
The vision of the Centre is for a society which accepts and support children with Special Needs to fully realize their potentials.


It mission is to be a voice and to break the silence of disability in communities, through increasing access to information and service delivery, to provide excellent care and education to children from 2 to 15 years of age with a wide range of needs including children with complex needs, speech and language delays, autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD, SLI, Learning Disability, Childhood Apraxia etc.


It also aims to support and help children's development on a physical, emotional and educational level, encouraging them to achieve the best they possibly can.


It also aim from building confidence to socializing with peers to taking steps unaided and developing communication, every child has different abilities and needs and is encouraged at every stage by our caring and dedicated team.
Other areas includes; to help children to build the confidence, independence and skills they need to help them start school - mainstream or special education and to work together with health professionals.


“Our children are involved with various professionals such as Speech and Language Pathologist, Psychologist, Optometrist, Dentist, Physiothera Music therapist, Audiologist and Paediatrician whom we have a very strong relationship with. We also refer to many of these services in the centre and from monthly visits to the centre by these Professionals,” it stated.


Beautiful Minds Centre for Child Development was founded by Rulho and her husband Kezhaleo Riilho along with Henwasin Sweety Lorin, Audiologist & Speech Pathologist.


It is an initiation by them to raise awareness about the lesser known child disorders such as Autism Specturm Disorder, ADHD, childhood Aphasia, learning disability, Down's Syndrome, Apraxia, Dyslexia, speech & Language delay & impairment, etc and to provide these children with proper treatment and care.


The Centre will act as an umbrella for various child developmental needs with professional consultants from different fields that a child would require.


“We focus our values towards creating hope for both parents and children with special needs through providing love, guidance, counseling, attention and care,” it stated that the tam of the centre includes pediatrician, psychologist, speech and language pathologist, audiologist, dentist, optometrist, physiotherapist, special educator, social worker and music therapist.
