BJP affirms to check misuse of public funds

Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has affirmed that it will try hard to uplift the common mass and fight corruption and make sure that public funds/allotments are not misused.

The BJP State office bearers meeting held on August 25 last at Dimapur discussed various issues relating to the party organisation, political issues, the forth coming visit of the National President Mahila Morcha Smriti Irani to Dimapur on September 6 and other relevant issues.

The party in a press note stated that in the meeting it had intense discussion on the present prevailing Public Distribution System (PDS) in the state.

“In the present day context when the country is suffering due to price rise, the public are being deprived of the essential commodities allotted to the state,” it lamented in a press note issued by its General Secretary Yambos Murry.

Moreover, it pointed out that the monthly allocation of essential food grains are not properly distributed to the genuine beneficiaries. The BJP in the note also stated the total monthly allocation received from the Central Pool to Nagaland: APL Rice – 4360 Mt, APL Wheat – 1873 Mt, BPL Rice – 2159 Mt, BPL Wheat – 517 Mt, AAY Rice – 1338Mt, AAY Wheat – 326 Mt, Levy Sugar – 1179 Mt and SK Oil – 1425 Kl.

“It is found that there is no utilization certificate for APL and BPL Wheat therefore the question arises as to how can it be distributed to the deserving public and how does the Centre allot the nest monthly quota without proper utilization report from the respective authority,” it added.

Further, it said that in concern for the genuine beneficiaries, the party will check the misuse of the commodities which is meant for the public to ensure fair distribution. The administration too should not issue utilization report without receiving the monthly allocation of food grains and proper disbursement of the monthly share to genuine card holders.

Meanwhile, the Transparency International India and centre for Media Studies published in a magazine dated 21st July, 2010 has declared Nagaland State as the most corrupted State in India. Therefore, the party is concerned to eradicate the declaration and make Nagaland as the most efficient and transparent state, the BJP in the press note stated.
