BJP Nagaland flays ‘misleading’ news report

Kohima, December 12 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland State Unit has flayed a news report on December 11 claiming that the BJP “could ask for replacement of state Home Minister Y. Patton, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister in the Neiphiu Rio-led government.

This report, citing various sources, is entirely misplaced and is malafide in intent, asserted a statement issued by  State BJP President. Temjen Imna Along, and shared on its official Twitter handle.

“The reporter's claim that ‘NDPP sources suggest - replacing or dropping Patton should be BJP central leadership's decision’ is grossly incorrect as there is no such intention or move within the BJP at the State or Central level,” it said.

‘The ghastly incident that occurred December 4 and 5 resulting in the lost of innocent lives should not be exploited by anybody—including the media—to spread confusion and mistrust,’ it added.

The BJP further stated that such news reports are “self-contradictory in nature and is purely meant to mislead the people and sow misunderstanding within the BJP legislators and amongst the alliance partners,” it added.

It further appealed “appealed to one and all to kindly discern facts from unreasonable and unsound assumptions particularly at a time when all Nagas are grieving with our Konyak brethren.”
