Broad day light killing in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 6 (MExN): Sangtam Union Dimapur has strongly condemned the killing of Seopi Sangtam son of Yutsase of Phiru Ahir village on Saturday by unidentified gunmen at Super Market area Dimapur.  Kashiho Sangtam, president of Sangtam Union Dimapur has stated that late Seopi was educated unemployed youth and was not involved with any underground faction whatsoever. Killing of innocent youth without any reason or rhyme and that also at a time when all Naga people are striving to bring long lasting peace in the society should be condemned by one and all at strongest term, he said. Union appealed to police and administration to probe into the case with seriousness book the perpetrators. Further, the union conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.   
In another condemnation note the Sangtam Peoples Forum Dimapur District (SPFDD) has condemned what was termed as a cold blooded murder. According to a press note from SPFDD President Er Athriba Sangtam, the victim was shot by an “unidentified Naga youth’. It was also informed that the victim was a graduate who had previously served as store keeper at ITI Kohima on contract basis during 2006-07 and that presently he was unemployed residing at this native village and he had come to Kohima seeking job opportunities.
The SPFDD stated that there was no record of his involvement in any anti-social activities and rather he was an active student leader and “completely innocent”. The SPFDD while demanding the arrest of the culprit and awarding of befitting punishment, it stated that the forum will not tolerate nor remain silent to such inhuman act till the culprit (s) are booked.
Similar condemnation has poured in from other organizations. The Sangtam Students Union Dimapur (SSUD) stated that the victim was at his uncle’s place at the time of the incident. The SSUD appealed to the concerned authority to thoroughly investigate the matter and book the culprit at the earliest. The union also appealed to all the civil societies to denounce such barbaric and inhuman act particularly at a time when peace is the need of the hour. It further stated that it will leave no stone unturned to bring justice to the deceased. The union also conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and friends. The Eastern Nagaland Students Union Dimapur (ENSUD) has also condemned the killing describing the victim as an innocent public. A press note from the ENSUD Speaker P. Honko Luklem and Secretary Social & Culture Konjai T. Ailly has appealed to the law enforcing authority to arrest the culprit at the earliest for the safety and security of the public.        
Likewise the United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) strongly condemned the cold blooded murder and described the victim as a “peaceful man and in no way related to any group/faction”. USLP stated that it will not remain a silent spectator to the shedding of innocent blood and so it earnestly urged the authorities to immediately apprehend the criminal(s) behind this dastardly and cowardly act.
