Business session on ‘Manipur: Gateway to Asia’

A business session on 'Manipur: Gateway to Asia' was held on Tuesday at Hotel Classic in Imphal. The business session was organized by the Department of Textiles, Commerce & Industry in association with the Indian Chamber of Commerce.

 

During the session, officials of Health & Family welfare, Horticulture and Soil Conservation and Textiles, Commerce and Industry presented papers on various topic. Members of All Manipur Entrepreneur Association and Managing Director of Shija Hospital and Research Institute also presented papers at the sessions.

 

As a part of the session, a short video on Manipur by Tourism Department, Government of Manipur was also shown.

 

The business session was attended by ASEAN Heads of Missions, High Commissioner of Brunel Darusalam, Dato Paduka Sidek Ali; Ambassador of Cambodia, Ung Sean; Ambassador of Indonesia, Sidhrato Reza Suryodipuro; Ambassador of Lao PDR, Bounneme Chouanghom; High Commissioner of Malaysia, Dato Hidayet Abdul Hamid; Ambassador of Myanmar, Moe Kyaw Aung; High Commissioner of Singapore, Lim Thuan Kuan; and Ambassador of Thailand, Chutintorn Gongsakdi.

 

After the presentation, ASEAN Heads of Mission gave observation that Manipur has lots of potential in Health and Tourism sector. They also opined that being gateway to South Asian, Manipur can  also undertake  Border Trade. They stated that connectivity need to be improved  for better trade and commerce with neighbouring countries.

 

The bussiness session was also attended by Addditional Chief Secretary, Suhel Aktar, Principal Secretary, Textiles, Commerce and Industry, P Vaiphei among others.
