•-Changes have always been a part of history. From the Great Ice Age to the present modern world, human civilization had been constantly adapting to the gradual change in his habitat. The ability to adapt to an ever changing environment has helped human race to procreate and survive thus far. The innate ability to adjust at a natural pace has never been put to such a test as of now. Rapid changes in the global environs during the last few decades have made the human species find difficultly in keeping pace. Incidences of natural disaster have increased globally and it is no secret that our State too has begun experiencing it.
Majority of our population resides in the villages with little or no access to knowledge on such metaphors. Though a witness to such changes happening around him/her, one can help but be a hapless victim only. With little or no knowledge on why it is happening, he can just stand as a mute spectator. Remedial measures would be only a blind man’s guess with no wherewithal and knowhow’s. This is where the media and the Church can play an influential role in educating the mass. In the present day context of our societal setup, the influence of the church and the fourth Estate in shaping the psyche of the people cannot be questioned, given the extend of outreach and penetrability it has. God’s creation of a world where he has left us to lead a peaceful co-existent life with nature is rocked at its base, a result of our own creation. Under such circumstances taking the message of environmental awareness en-mass along with the gospel, by the Church will have a far reaching impact. In bringing across the message directly to the living room, the involvement of the media too can help turn around the event; in addition to the laudable efforts’ made by many of the state’s NGOs’ and the State government.
