DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 27 (MExN): The Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI) has urged the Prime Minster of India, Narendra Modi to ensure that there is peace during Christmas celebration in all the States.
In a representation, the Council appealed the Prime Minister to issue directives to all the States to ensure peaceful celebration of Christmas for Christians in the country.
It lamented that there have been instances where Christians were not allowed to celebrate their festivals, especially Christmas in pockets of the country. It also sought to point out that in the North East states, where Christians are a majority; there are no disturbances to the Hindus or the Muslim community when they celebrate their respective festivals.
The Council therefore said it also expect the “same spirit of brotherhood from our brothers from the Hindu community.”
