CCC&TA cautions against illegal activities within jurisdiction

Chümoukedima, November 24 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Chamber of Commerce and Trade Association (CCC&TA) has expressed “serious concern” over what it termed as interference by business unions from other districts and towns within Chümoukedima’s jurisdiction.

In a press release, the CCC&TA alleged that such unions have been “forcing and threatening” business establishments to register under them, which it said was unethical and unacceptable. The Association “strongly rejected and condemned” these actions and urged the concerned unions to immediately refrain from operating within its jurisdiction to restore mutual respect and understanding.

Meanwhile, reiterating its long-standing stand against illegal taxation, forced collection, intimidation and threats against the business community in the town, the CCC&TA cautioned that such activities may rise during the festive season.

Accordingly, it cautioned any individual or group against indulging in unlawful practices and stressed the need to ensure a peaceful and business-friendly environment.

The CCC&TA reaffirmed its endorsement of the principle of “One Government, One Tax,” a resolution adopted by citizens of Chümoukedima during a public rally in 2014.

It said it would “stand firmly as a guardian” against all forms of forceful taxation and extortion.

The Association further cautioned that stern action would be taken against any business found engaging in “foul play regarding ‘TAXATION’ to any individual or underground groups, it would invite stern actions against the defaulters.”

Businesses have also been advised to avoid artificial price inflation during the season. Any issue related to discrepancies or misunderstandings should be reported to the competent authority without delay, it added.

The CCC&TA aslo directed all business establishments to maintain cleanliness within and around their premises throughout the festive season.

Extending festive greetings, the Association wished all traders and business establishments in Chümoukedima a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2026.
