State Holiday declared in Manipur today

Union Home minister, Amit Shah announced extension of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur on Monday, prompting the Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh to declare Tuesday as a state holiday. Singh welcomed the Home Minister’s announcement, and lauded the Central Government "keeping their commitment and promises". The Manipur CM also paid tributes to the late Sapam Robinhood who "sacrificed his life" for the implementation of Inner Line Permit system in Manipur.The CM stated that according to the Union Home Minister, the Inner Line Permit system would be extended in Manipur "so as to protect the indigenous people" of the State. He also gave the credit of such outcome to the people, civil society organisations and media fraternity of the state.
