Centre of Excellence for Foreign Languages at NU

The Centre of Excellence for Foreign Languages (CoEFL) will be inaugurated in the Department of Linguistics, Nagaland University at NU Kohima campus Meriema on September 9.

It will be inaugurated by Nagaland’s chief secretary Dr. J. Alam at 2:00 PM.

Greetings will be shared by Prof. G. Thong, Pro-vice chancellor, Nagaland University Kohima Campus, Meriema while special remarks will be made by Reny Wilfred, Joint Secretary, Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and Bur Sanen, ARMS Incorporation (Japanese Language Training Provider).

This Centre is a collaboration of Government of Nagaland and Nagaland University.

An MoU was signed on December 5, 2023 to scale up Nagaland as a hub for learning foreign languages by implementing the CoEFL (in the department of Linguistics Nagaland University).

This centre will not only provide additional educational course offering to students but also promote youth employment opportunities within and outside the country and in doing so, strengthen the bi-lateral ties and relationships with various countries.

This collaboration shall further enhance skill development and provide employment  opportunities.

Another MoU with the initiative of IDAN was  signed between Nagaland University  and ARMS Incorporation, based on the mutual interest in the promotion of Japanese language and culture and strengthening the capacity  and employability and skill development  of the students of Nagaland University.

Students that are willing to join who are not part of the University may also join, according to Prof. Pangersenla Walling, head, Department of Linguistics.
