‘Centre will deliver only one solution to Indo-Naga issue’

Patton addresses 51st general conference of the Lotha Students Union
Wokha, January 28 (MExN): The Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton on Tuesday called for unity among the various Naga Political Groups, as “the centre will deliver only one solution to the long protracted Indo-Naga issue.”
Addressing the second day of the 51st general conference of the Lotha Students Union (LSU) held at Merapani village on January 28, Patton appealed various organisations in formulating a mechanism to bring them together under one fold, stated a press note issued by the Media Cell Dy CM office.
Pointing out that Wokha district shares a long inter-state boundary with Assam and “it poses a serious danger on the influx of illegal immigrants via Merapani in particular,” Patton called for educating and sensitising the people not to give shelter to these illegal immigrants for cheap labour. Patton stated that with the implementation of ILP at Dimapur, Wokha foothill belt will be one of the most vulnerable districts and therefore appealed to all stakeholders to take cognisance of the situation and refrain from issuing certificates to those illegal immigrants. In this regard, he urged the student body to play a pro active and pivotal role for effective implementation of ILP.
The Dy CM also unveiled the 51st LSU conference monolith. He was accompanied by district administrations from Dimapur and Wokha, government officials from various departments , elders and host of party workers.
Short speeches were delivered by DC Wokha, Orenthung Lotha; Ninoto Awomi NSF President; Lotha Hoho chairman, Er Mhondamo Ovung and Lotha Hoho Dimapur, chairman, YL Jami IAS (Rtd).
According to a DIPR report, Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation submitted a memorandum to the Dy CM Y Patton demanding for Bhandari district, completion of Nagaland foothill road, establishment of EAC HQ at Yamhon village, establishment of Government College in Bhandari, and establishment of NAP Post at Yimpang area and police out post at Yanmhon area.
