Kohima, January 22 (MExN): An ex gratia compensation of Rs 30 lakh was handed over to Thekhole-ü Thur, the wife of late Khrieliehu Thur, a booth level officer who died of COVID-19 while on election duty. Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V Shashank Shekhar handed over the payment to the deceased wife at the CEO’s Office Chamber Kohima on January 21.
Late Thur, then a Booth Level Officer (BLO) of Part No. 14 – Chotobosti Upper, died due to COVID-19, while being deployed on election duty in connection with conduct of by-election to 14-Southern Angami (ST) AC of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in September, 2020.
The CEO and team of officers expressed their deep appreciation for the services rendered by late Thur and also to all those who have been selflessly serving the society during the pandemic.
The cheque was handed over in the presence of Jt CEO, Ruokuovituo Khezhie; Dy CEO, Awa Lorin; Supdt (Estt), Kedolhouriano; Special Officer (Accounts), Rukuvil Khanyo representing the State Government and AEO, Toshimeren representing the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kohima, a report from the state DIPR informed.
