DIMAPUR, MARCH 22 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Gorkha Youth (CGY), Dimapur, Nagaland has started producing sanitizers which were distributed to senior Gorkha citizens of Chümoukedima town on March 21.
The hand sanitisers were made by Chümoukedima Gorkha Youth science students named Neema Lama, Sunil Giri and Reema Chettri. Sunil Giri, a student of St. Joseph University Nagaland led the team along with CGY leaders.
"In response to the shortage of hand sanitizers due to the COVID 19, we could solve this problem in our home,” the students said. They researched the components required for making hand sanitisers and mixed Aloe Vera gel, with isopropyl alcohol, Hydrogen peroxide, Glycerine, lemon and essential oil. Following the prescribed lab procedure, they mixed 70% alcohol with other ingredients to make the sanitizer.
“It was an informational experiment to show how simple necessities can be made at home," they stated.
Commending the students’ work, CGY president, Manoj Shreshta said: “They used real science to solve a real problem.”
