Chakhesang Tribe was declared the winner during the 3rd edition of Folk Tune competition held in Kisama on December 8.
Kohima, December 10 (MExN): The Harmony Society sponsored by Nagaland Tourism held its 3rd edition of the Folk Tune competition in Kisama on December 8. The competition focused on preservation and showcasing the age old folk songs and tunes of our Naga Tribes of Nagaland.
The 16 tribes of Nagaland except for the Angami tribe took part in the competition which was judged by singer and composer, Andrew Thong and the Harmony Society. Thong said that organizing folk tune competition was significant in the society right now as it encourages the young generation to “revive our diminishing tradition and help us cling on our roots. It is an initiative to keeping our rich culture alive and it must continue.” Chakhesang Tribe was declared the winner followed by Konyak Tribe and Garo Tribe respectively. The competition received good response from the tourist as well as the local visitors.
