Child Rights Ambassador prog held in Mon

Students, teachers and various stakeholders after the launching programme of Child Rights Ambassador in Mon district on November 19.

 

Mon, November 26 (MExN): Observation of World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse and launch of Child Rights Ambassador was organized by Mon District Administration in collaboration with District Child Protection Unit and Child Welfare Committee on November 19 at Mon Town Council Hall.


In the event, Thavaseelan K, IAS Deputy Commissioner of Mon launched the Child Rights Programme for the district. One boy and one girl from each school will be designated as Child Rights Ambassadors. The DC urged upon all that prevention is the best solution and timely intervention for rescue of a child in a potentially abusive situation is the need of the hour. He called upon Child Rights Ambassadors to actively advocate and promote the rights of children.


Ngamkhao Konyak, Counsellor, Sakhi - One Stop Centre Mon spoke on child rights and preventive measures for child abuse. Samuel Kapu, District Child Protection Officer delivered the keynote address. Chubasanen Ozukum, EAC Mon led the programme and Tuishimla Konyak, District Chaplain & Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee invoked God’s blessing. The meeting concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Wanloi H Konyak, LPO Mon.
