CHILDLINE towards safe environment of children

Kohima, November 29 (MExN): As part of the annual campaign CHILDLINE SE DOSTI, a celebration that commemorates the concept of creating and providing a safe environment of the children CHILDLINE Kohima conducted a series of activities to mark the campaign starting from November 14 to 29 in Kohima district.  

CHILDLINE Kohima in a press release stated that the campaign strives to enable people from all walks of life to become important resource person in order to spread CHILDLINE's message in promoting a child friendly society, a press release stated.  

The highlights of the campaign includes setting up of child friendly and healing environment at Paediatrics ward, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima by decorating the interiors with child friendly wall pictures which in hope will make hospitalization less intimidating for children.  

The team along with volunteers and well wishers visited the South Police Station, North Police Station and Women Police Station in Kohima where the police officials representing their respective stations heartily took the CHILDLINE Dosti pledge followed by fastening of Suraksha band on their wrist, as a symbolic action of their commitment to CHILDLINE and for protection of children. The hoardings of CHILDLINE message were also put up in various police stations.  

The team also spread the message about the campaign in social media on the services and activities of CHILDLINE 1098. CHILDLINE Kohima also collaborated with the Kohima village students Union (KVSU) in generating mass awareness drive using public address system as a tool at Kohima village and nearby areas to disseminate information on CHILDLINE services and to appeal to the community to their bit in building a safe environment for children to live in.   The campaign concluded with awareness in different institutions such as Loyola Higher secondary school, Jakhama November 28 and St. Joseph College Jakhama on November 29.  

It aimed was to sensitise them about the toll free 1098 helpline number and also inviting them to be a CHILDLINE dost by calling 1098 whenever they see a child in distress.  

Collaboration director, CHILDLINE Kohima, Mezhi Sorhie has invited every citizen in the state to become a true friend of CHILDLINE as child protection should be everyone’s concern, and everyone should pledge that they will be there for every child in need of help.
