Children of KODH take part in Swachh Bharat

Children of Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home with members of CHILDLINE Kohima after the two-day programme held on Swachh Bharat campaign.

 

Kohima, January 27 (MExN): Joining with the rest of the country in the Swachh Bharat campaign, CHILDLINE Kohima conducted a 2-day programme with the children of Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH), Kohima under the theme “Does my Childhood matter.”


The programme was held with Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie Sote as the special guest. He shared on the Swachh Bharat campaign being carried out across the state and nation by different Government departments, NGOs, agencies etc. He maintained that although many activities are conducted as part of the campaign, the Child Care Institute’s (CCI’s) are often overlooked. The DC exhorted the children to make personal cleanliness and hygiene as a habit and to be an example to others in school or wherever they go.


A series of activities were conducted with the children, some of which were - drawing and essay competition based on the theme, free services on manicure and pedicure with haircuts service provided by trainers and students from EDITI. Another highlight of the programme was plantation in and around the home with active participation of the children, with the aim to promote clean environment for a healthy living.


The programme was chaired by Keneizakienuo Belho, Counselor CHILDLINE Kohima, prayer by Neibanuo Zaputuo-o President, KODH. Welcome address was given by Neingutuonuo Kulnu, Centre Coordinator CHILDLINE Kohima, while the KODH children presented a song. Vote of thanks was delivered by Rukuto Khamo, team member CHILDLINE Kohima.
