Chümoukedima: Illicit liquor & drugs business in directed to cease ops by October 1

Chümoukedima, September 21 (MExN): All Individuals/parties involved in illicit liquor business and dealing in illegal psychotropic drugs are directed to cease their activities within Chümoukedima to “cease their activities/vacate their business establishments” before October 1. 

“No further warning shall be issued after the given time and strict action will be initiated as resolved,” stated a press release appended by Head GBs of Chümoukedima Village, Chümoukedima ‘A’ Village and Chümoukedima Town as well as President Chümoukedima Town Mechü Krotho.

The youth and women bodies from time to time, in collaboration with the district administration and police will conduct checking to curb the illegal activities, and both customary and legal actions would be initiated upon culprits involved, it said. 

Any residents/tenants found selling illegal liquors and banned drugs shall be expelled from the jurisdiction without warning and legal action would be initiated against the culprits involved, it added. 

The trade permits of any licensed shops or business establishments found selling illegal liquor or banned drugs would be “immediately cancelled” and the culprit would  be expelled from the respective jurisdiction without warning, the release said. 

The defaulter will be given only 5 days to vacate the establishment and  legal actions will be initiated against the culprits, it added. 

As per the release, it has been observed that many anti-social elements running illicit liquor businesses and dealing in illegal psychotropic drugs are operating under Chümoukedima jurisdiction inspite of warnings and prohibitory notifications issued in the past.

The unsafe environment created by these unwanted elements is a matter of grave concern, and hence, keeping in mind the well-being and safety of the inhabitants, Chümoukedima Village Council, Chümoukedima ‘A’ Village & Chümoukedima Town Angami Mechü Krotho have collectively resolved to enforce the directives for strict compliance under their respective jurisdiction, it added.
