Free multispeciality health camp held at Kigwema

Kohima, June 29 (MExN): A free multispeciality health camp, including cancer screening services, was organised at Kigwema village on June 28, benefiting hundreds of residents through consultations, diagnostic tests and free medicines.

Organised by the Dr K & T Keditsu Foundation in collaboration with the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, the camp was supported by the Biocon Foundation, Bengaluru, and Putuonuo Hospital, Kohima.

According to the organisers, the camp registered 227 participants and provided a total of 459 free consultations across specialties including obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, general medicine, surgery and dental care. Services also included blood tests, ultrasonography and minor procedures.

A total of 164 people underwent free cancer screening for oral and cervical cancer. Free medicines were also distributed to beneficiaries.

The programme, held at Kigwema Government Middle School, began with a welcome address by site coordinator Nutsovolu, MSW. Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu, Founding Trustee of the Dr K & T Keditsu Foundation, introduced the medical team, while Dr Aneizo Khruomo, MDS, Dental Surgeon at District Hospital, Peren, delivered a talk on oral health and cancer awareness.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Khomeze Jacob Mera, Village Council Chairman of Kigwema, followed by a prayer led by Village Health Committee Chairman Siechalie Yhoshü.

A total of 35 personnel, including eight doctors, 22 paramedics from Putuonuo Hospital, Nagaland Health Authority Kohima (NHAK), the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, and private hospitals and clinics, as well as five social workers from the Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation, participated in the camp.
