The weather did not dampen the spirit of the Catechism students of Christ King Church even as they put on their Bible character attires and enthusiastically participated in the third edition of Bible & Saints Cosfest 2023 organised by Christ King Church Sunday Catechism in collaboration with the Catholic Junior Association and the Catholic Youth Association on Saturday.

Convenor, Organising Committee, Kethoneizo James Rutsa said that the Sunday Catechism has an enrolment of 400 children and during the last two editions of the Cosfest, children were only made to introduce their characters. The Sunday Catechism has six categories of classes including Beginners, Primary, First Communicants, Sub-Junior, Junior and Intermediate.

The Cosfest was initiated in the year 2019 and was put on hold during the pandemic years but was held again last year as the second edition.

The main objective of organising the Cosfest, he highlighted was to encourage both parents and children to learn more about the characters in the Bible.

One of the highlights of this year’s edition was the Passport for every visitor with visa for places such as Eden Garden, Tower of Babel, Noak’s Ark, Issac/Abraham Era, Jacob Era, Calvary, Joseph’s Era, Moses Era, Jesus Era, 1st Miracle, Parables Land, Gethsemane & Pilate Palace, wherein for every visited place, they get a ‘passport stamp.’

Earlier, in his keynote address, Ketsuse Cyril Belho, Catechism Teacher, said the Bible & Saints Cosfest was initiated with the prime objective to help children grow in their faith. “We should not only base our teaching on textbook but use the medium of visual, crafting and outing”, he said.

Stating that the Catholic faith is fundamentally sacramental, he said that, “it is a faith that goes beyond words and recognises God’s presence reflected in the things of the world.” He also exuded hope that through the event, they would “know the faith, share the faith and love the faith.”

“Teach me and I will forget. Show me and I will remember. Do with me and I will not forget,” he illustrated while stating that this is the essence of the Bible & Saints Cosfest 2023.

The event was organised under the theme “Rooted in Christ” and was chaired by Dr Vizokhonyü Victor Yhome while Ruokuovituo Robert, Catechist, Christ King Church said the invocation and Dr Kiyasetuo Stephen, President of Catholic Union, Christ King Church declared the Cosfest open.
