Participants during the hands-on training on processing of various horticultural value added products held at CIH Medziphema.
Medziphema, February 19 (MExN): Central Institute of Horticulture, DAC & FW, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Medziphema organized two-day training on mushroom production and value addition of horticultural crops for the rural unemployed youths and farmers of Dimapur and Peren District at its Institute on February 18 and 19.
The training started with an inaugural function, which was chaired by Vinika K Aomi, Post Harvest Technologist CIH. The trainees were also briefed on the various activities and functioning of the Institute by Prabin Das, Marketing Specialist CIH.
During the training, the participants were given hands-on training on processing of various horticultural value added products such as fruit squashes, pickles and ginger candy by Vinika K Aomi (Post Harvest Technologist-CIH). Resource person SC Sahoo, Deputy General manager, NABARD Nagaland highlighted on the developmental prospects of NABARD in Nagaland. He encouraged the trainees to take up skill oriented courses for self sustenance and form FPOs. Hands on training on mushroom production technology were also imparted to the trainees by Marina, Senior Technical Assistant CIH.
The trainees were trained on Marketing of their produces by Prabin Das (Marketing Specialist-CIH). He also highlighted the prospects of entrepreneurs in Horticultural sectors. Altogether, 23 participants from different villages under Dimapur and Peren District attended the training programme.
