Wokha, August 14 (MExN): State Minister for Transport, Civil Aviation and Land Resources, P Paiwang Konyak inaugurated the civil helipad at Wokha on August 14.
In his address, the Minister highlighted that till 2018, flying hours of Nagaland chopper service was only 400 hours. After his meeting with the then Home Minister Rajnath Singh at New Delhi, the flying hours was extended to 1200 hours and at present, two helicopters of twin engine are operational in Nagaland.
The inauguration was held in the presence of Dr Chumben Murry (MLA), A Robin Lotha (Secretary, Transport Department, Nagaland) Orenthung Lotha (Deputy Commissioner Wokha), Imtitoshi Ao (SP Wokha) and other dignitaries, a DIPR report informed.
He also highlighted that the centre has allotted a Rs 90 crore-project for fixed-wing aircraft with priority at every district headquarter. He urged the public to utilize the opportunity and also made an appeal to the public to contribute more land for the overall development.
Dr Chumben Murry MLA remarked that despite hardships, challenges and land acquisition issues, the civil helipad at Wokha is now a reality. He acknowledged the Minister for giving special attention towards the welfare of the Wokha citizens.
A Robin Lotha, Secretary Transport Department Nagaland acknowledged the concerned department and the Minister for having special concern and attention for the Wokha citizens. He gave a brief highlight on the project details and said that Nagaland at present, has 12 helipads out of which, 9 are operational and 3 are under construction.
Orenthung Lotha, Deputy Commissioner Wokha also urged the public for cooperation and maintenance of the helipad.
Lotha Hoho Chairperson Er Mhondamo Ovung expressed gratitude towards the Minister and the concerned department and also submitted a two-point memorandum to the Minister. The Minister acknowledged the memorandum and assured all further developments through proper channel.
