A press release from the media cell, Carmel Bhavan stated that the project was launched by Toiho Yeptho, Chairman, Chekiye Village. Inaugurating the event, Yeptho said that it is a noble effort and will go a long way in its aim to make a pollution free world.

Earlier, the gathering was accorded welcome by Dr Sr Kaisa. Principal, Carmel Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, Rev. Fr Johnson pronounced the benediction. The first piece of the cloth bag was handed over by Toiho Yeptho to the Provincial Superior, Mother Emilin. The members then took a pledge to work hard toward building a plastic free environment.

It may be mentioned here that the CMC Sisters who are in the North East for the past 53 years have seen the slow but steady rise of many pollutants used in the day to day lifestyle of its denizens and are committed to contributing something toward uplifting the people. The cloth bag project is an undertaking wherein cloth bags are stitched and used in place of plastic bags. Through this project, the members intend to give awareness to communities and societies of the need to live in a plastic free environment.
