CNCCI calls off indefinite shutter down with ‘reminder’

Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) today called off the all statewide “indefinite shutter down.”

The decision was taken following the intimation of DCCI about their charter of demands being met and with the approval of 16 District Chambers of Commerce and Executive Council, it said.

However, the Confederation made it clear that issues raised by the DCCI applies to whole of Nagaland and the State Government should implement its order and decision across the State as intimated.

The CNCCI also appreciated the State Government for taking up the grievances of the business community seriously and putting it as an agenda in the Cabinet Meeting.

The CNCCI on behalf of the DCCI also appreciated the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police Dimapur for working tirelessly to redress the grievances of the business community.

“Despite their limitations on empowerment, they gave their best efforts to protect the business community and the business community assure them all out cooperation in future,” it said.

It further also lauded all the 16 District Chamber of Commerce for “all out cooperation on clarion call to fight against the menace of unabated multiple taxations, fines and extortions.”

The CNCCI is humbled at the overwhelming support that it received across Nagaland where even small towns spontaneously heed to the call and put their shutter down in solidarity, it added.

In the last few days despite the inconvenience the citizens of Nagaland gave a thumbing support to the business community who are ultimately the most affected sending  across loud and clear that the “Nagas can no longer be fooled with empty rhetoric,” the Confederation said.

It further expressed gratitude to all the Tribal Apex Bodies and the CSO for their unwavering support, especially the understanding Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) for giving fatherly support and acting as bridge between the business community and the State Government.

Meanwhile, the CNCCI reminded the Government that it is a big lesson to be taken note for future that any genuine grievances by its citizens should be addressed at its infancy stage rather than “fire fight after the issue gets blown out of hand.”

It also pointed out the a “long pending determined demand” with Department of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs since 2021 which submitted to  Chief Minister, Advisor Urban Development and Chief Secretary and appended by the 16 District Chambers, is yet to be addressed.

The CNCCI demands the government to immediately redress our demand with utmost seriousness and act upon it or the Confederation will not hesitate to again go with statewide outcry, it added.
