Kohima, November 4 (MExN): The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) (Urban)-Housing for All, Nagaland under the Municipal Affairs Department organized a painting and essay competition on November 2 and 3 in 14 places as part of the on-going Information Education and Communication (IEC) activities for “angikaar – a campaign for change management”.

The participants for the painting competition comprised of primary school students and the participants for the essay competition comprised of high school to higher secondary students.

The themes for both competition categories were based on the concepts of the eight different verticals under the angikaar campaign, concepts that range from environment protection to water and energy conservation and promotion of cohesive living in urban and rural societies.

Around 1000 students took part in the painting and essay competition across the 14 identified towns, namely Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Wokha, Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire, Jalukie, Phek, Peren Medziphema, Shamator, Longleng and Zunheboto.

“angikaar” translates to “acceptance” and it is a campaign that has been initiated for social behavioural change, focusing on issues such as water and energy conservation, waste management, health, tree plantation, sanitation and hygiene for beneficiaries of completed houses under PMAY (U), through community mobilisation and IEC activities.

This was stated in a press release issued by Nchum Ovung IEC Specialist, State Level Technical Cell PMAY-U, Municipal Affairs Department.
