Tuensang, February 20 (MExN): With the aim of enhancing case monitoring, facilitating easy tracking, and providing status updates, the Tuensang Police launched a mobile application called “Complaint Connect” on February 20.
According to the district police, users do not need to download a separate application but can simply send their complaints to the WhatsApp number 7085486818.
Subsequently, they will automatically receive updates on their complaints via WhatsApp, from registration to the filing of chargesheets, informed a press release from Superintendent of Police Tuensang.
The app is set to revolutionise the way crimes are registered, cases are monitored, and conclusions are reached, it added. Initially, Tuensang Police will conduct a test run exclusively for Tuensang Police Station starting February 20.
Key Components:
The app has two key components. Firstly, a WhatsApp chatbot accessible to the public allows users to initiate communication by simply sending “hi” or “help” to the designated WhatsApp number.
Through this interface, users will receive automatic notifications and status updates, effectively transforming it into a virtual police station, eliminating the need for physical visits, the release said.
Secondly, a separate application will be available exclusively for police personnel, enabling the assignment of cases to Investigating Officers (IOs) and facilitating monitoring of their progress, it said.
Additionally, it provides insights into the workload of each IO and allows superior officers to track the timeline of each case, the police said.
This feature ensures timely completion and submission of cases to the court, thereby enhancing efficiency in the judicial process, the release maintained.
Addressing the media after the launch on Tuesday, SP Tuensang, Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, highlighted the app's potential in monitoring case progress, especially in remote areas where people hesitate to visit the station due to economic and other reasons.
The “Complaint Connect” app brings the police station to the public's fingertips, providing comprehensive updates on case progress via WhatsApp, he added.
Tuensang Police has also released an instructional video on its Facebook and Twitter accounts, demonstrating the app's functionalities.
