Dimapur, December 23 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today lashed out angrily at Home Minister Imkong Imchen for insinuating that the Congress has been forcing the state government to use force against the “Naga undergroundners” (Naga undergrounds) for “return of blood bath.”
The NPCC reacted swiftly to the Home Minister statement who had earlier amply suggested that the state act and ‘kill the Naga undergrounders.’ The rejoinder form the NPCC media cell scoffed at Imchen’s statement as well as use of certain nonexistent English terms: “What did he meant by Naga undergroundners? As far as the Naga political issue is concerned, there are no such undergroundners (undergrounds). It is unfortunate that Imkong L. Imchen has reduced our political struggle to the status of undergrounds. Besides, undergroundners must be a new English word found only in the dictionary of Imkong L. Imchen. The spurious word reflected our esteemed English dailies in poor light.”
Congress is one national political party that espouses non-violence as its core principle right from its inception and Imchen, as a former Congressman himself, he cannot deny that fact, the NPCC stated. “Imkong L. Imchen should explicitly spell out specific incident(s) as to when the Congress had propagated violence. He can’t make wild charges against the Congress just because he harbors bitter grudge against the party he deserted for selfish ends. Uttering word like ‘Satanic’ only depicted the height of his frustration and evil mind,” the Congress said.
“He can’t escape from his political duty and responsibility as the Home Minister by using such unbecoming phrases. The NPCC reiterates that he was entirely responsible for his inaction to control the volatile situation in time,” the opposition stated in response. The Congress reminded that the minister could not divert the attention of the people from the issues at hand by playing with the sentiments of the Naga groups against the Congress. The Congress party challenged – “what compassion was he talking about when the exchange of firing could have led to loss of many lives but for the timely intervention of the NGOs and Naga civil societies?”
The minister should gracefully own moral responsibility for his failure, the NPCC stated. “However, should he choose to continue the barrage, the NPCC will take the liberty to reproduce the list of his irresponsible actions after the festive seasons. Until then, in the spirit of true Christian, the NPCC takes no pleasure to spoil his Christmas,” the media cell added.
