Congress extends solidarity to demand for settlement: Therie

Kohima, August 7 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President, K Therie today stated that the Congress extends its solidarity and support to the August 5 ‘public rally in demand for settlement.’

People have defied money and power, he said, while alleging that the ‘State Government and its allied forces have done all they could do to dislodge the rally as usual.’

The NPCC President further charged that State Government of “abandoning the Parliamentary Committee resolution” of July 16, 2022 endorsing the “Agreements and the 31st Oct 2019 conclusion of talks,” by announcing a “treacherous seat-sharing deal.”

Nagaland people deserve peace, ‘One Government and One Tax,’ and people deserve justice and equality as well as a true welfare government, he said.

People deserve opportunities and employment, he noted, adding that the Government “have failed on all fronts particularly in enforcing the law of the land.”

He further called 25 years of negotiation and 20 years of facilitation without settlement as “deliberate” and noted that the “main intentions are to rob the state exchequer and extort from the public.”

“If they do not want to accept the conditions of GoI and are determined to fight for flag and constitution, abrogate the ceasefire. Settle the score in a friendly match,” he added, without specifying.

For the Government of India, ceasefire is solution. They do not need any settlement. Remove the roadblock – the UDA, he added.
