Dimapur, June 13 (MExN): Demanding that the state’s Election department rectify flaws in the ongoing Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and Photo Electoral (PE) drive, the Nagaland Congress leadership today directed all its units to look out for underage persons, ‘proxy photos’ and multiple entries. The units are then to submit a report by July 1.
The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) issued a statement today demanding that the Election department a number of snags found in the process. The Chief Electoral Officers are asked to “delete all non-photo list from electoral roll, delete all duplicate photos, delete all under-age by cross checking with 2011 census and Unique Identity Card (UIDC).”
The NPCC has assured full cooperation with the Electoral Photo Identity Card and Photo Electoral (PE) campaign.
To all its units, the NPCC directed the leaders, district and constituency units, village and town and ward units and booth-level agents to keep watch that the process is not manipulated or compromised. They are to ensure that no “proxy photos” are allowed. “Any doubt on identity should be challenged. They are at liberty to produce proof of their identity by either GBs, VC members, ward members, church certificate etc.,” the NPCC stated.
Further, no “underage photos” are to be allowed. “Any suspicion of underage should produce proof of birth certificate of HSLC admission card or from respective church. This should tally with Census or shall be rejected while cross checking,” the Congress command stated. “Check 2011 electoral role and raise objection to all multi-entries, and unidentified suspicious voters,” the NPCC added.
PCC Members are directed to coordinate with respective ACCC and provide 2011 electoral roll, which can be obtained from respective DCs offices or District Election Officer’s office. “All DCCs are directed to monitor the performance of PCC and ACCC in their respective districts and report action taken to President NPCC. Mid-term report along with each polling station number of photograph taken should be submitted by 1st July.”
