Phek, January 11 (MExN): The 2nd Day of the Convention of Chakhesang Catholic Association (CCA) and Chakhesang Catholic Women Association (CCWA) was graced by Rev Dr Fr Philip Abraham SJ as celebrant.
The Convention is coinciding with the Golden Jubilee of the Sacred Heart Church, Chizami. Rev Deacon Dr Sherman Kuek, OFS and Rev Fr Vemudo Joseph Kezo, Director, St Joseph College Boys Hostel, Jakhama were the speakers.
Rev Fr Abraham in his sermon shared that “there is a moral deficit in Nagaland. It is so difficult for us when we are single down by various central organizations to show that our state lacks accountability in public morality.”
Rev Fr Abraham cited this as a great concern, stating that “we are seen as Christian state,” but “real Christian life is not shining well in our land.”
He encouraged the CCA and CCWA to point out to the people and live and witness the true life of Jesus.
As per a press release received here,
In the first and third sessions of the day, Rev Deacon Dr.Sherman Kuek, OFS shared to the congregation on his life experiences stating that “Jubilee is a very biblical concept with a strong spiritual implication, calling to forgive and have mercy.”
In the next session, the speaker implicated how crucial the sacrament is to the Catholic faithful. “And of all, the Eucurist is the principle pillar where Christ in Flesh and Blood becomes one with us, His Church.”
The speaker called upon the congregation to be “prophets by daring to speak the truth, a priest by living a prayerful life and a king by humility and service to mankind.”
In the second session, Rev Fr Vemudo Joseph Kezo, Director, St Joseph College Boys Hostel, Jakhama spoke on ‘Catholic Tradition and Practices.’
