Counselling programmes conducted for SASRD students

Medziphema, March 6 (MExN): The School of Agricultural Sciences & Rural Development (SASARD), Nagaland University held a series of counselling programmes on varied topics for undergraduate and post graduate students on March 4 and 5.

According to a press release received on Sunday, on March 4, as session on ‘Mental Health Awareness & Stress Management’ was conducted by Dr Imlisongla Longkumer, an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology, NU, Meriema Campus and Imlibenla, Clinical Psychologist, CIHSR Dimapur. The students were familiarised on mental health issues and an elaborate discussion on strategies of coping with stress through problem focus as well as emotional focus was held in the session.  

On the second day, the counselling programme focused on ‘Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Agri & Allied Sectors, Financial Management and Soft Skill development,’ the release informed. Director of Tetso College & Associate Partner, Sapient Wealth Kvulo Lorin oriented the students on various facets of financial management and emphasized on inculcating a habit of saving at an early stage with proper guidance on opting for financial products and services that meet their requirements. Lezo Putsure, Director of Educentre School of Business (EBS), motivated the students to take up promising entrepreneurial ventures in agriculture and allied sectors. He also assured the students for the needed support and guidance.

As per the release, the afternoon session included three sessions conducted by Helen Gonmei Aier, Facilitator, Personality Development & Soft Skills, which were focused on ‘Soft Skill Development’ among the students. She conducted an elaborate discussion on Soft skills, Hard Skills & Interpersonal Skills. She also conducted practical training on ‘Basic communication & body Language, Problem solving techniques, Time Management, CV writing & Interview Skills.’

Meanwhile, Prof KK Jha who is in-charge of the Counselling & Placement Cell thanked Prof Alemla Ao, Pro Vice –Chancellor and Prof Akali Sema, Dean for providing all the facilities and helping to organize the programmes at SASRD, NU campus. He also appreciated the participants and SU: SASRD for their whole hearted participation, the release stated.

Students from various classes shared their feedback stating that the counselling sessions were organized  meticulously as per the need of students and were very useful, it added.
