13 ‘recoveries’ on Sunday

The COVID-19 curve in Nagaland continues to climb steadily with 10 fresh cases, including 4 non-frontline workers in Kohima and 1 in Dimapur testing positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.
According to State Nodal Officer for Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme , Dr Nyan Kikon, the cases among non-frontline workers in Kohima are part of the contact tracing of previous positive cases. He maintained that the cases fall under local transmission.
The other non-frontline worker who tested positive in Dimapur is the elderly patient, who was admitted to Eden Medical Center (EMC) Dimapur on July 17. Result for the second confirmatory test returned positive on July 19, official sources said.
Meanwhile, 2 other persons from Kohima and 1 each from Longleng, Dimapur and Mokokchung also tested positive on July 19, taking the total of infections in the state to 988.
However, the state also reported 13 ‘recoveries’ on Monday with 2 in Dimapur, 3 in Kohima and 8 in Mon, taking the state’s recovery rate to 45% with 445 in total.
The state’s tally of active cases now stands at 543, as per data provided by the Department of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW).
In terms of severity of cases, 539 of the active cases are ‘asymptomatic,’ 2 are ‘mild cases’ while 2 are classified as ‘moderate cases.’
State Principal Secretary (Home), Abhijit Sinha meanwhile said in his routine briefing that all the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres. Active surveillance and contact tracing is in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection, he added.
41.43% active cases in Dimapur
Dimapur remains the district with the highest number of infections as well as active cases in the state as of 3:00 pm on July 19. With 225 active cases, Dimapur accounts for 41.43% of the state’s active cases.
A total of 387 cases were reported from the district, out of which 163 have recovered.
The second highest COVID-19 infections were reported from Peren district with a total of 248. However, with 139 recoveries so far, Peren now has 19.88% of the state’s active cases at 108.
Kohima reported 193 total infections and 89 recoveries. 19.15% of the state’s active cases are in the state capital.
Kiphire remains COVID-19 free
While cases in the rest of the district remain below the 100-mark, Kiphire is the only district in the state that has not reported any COVID-19 cases so far. On Sunday, Mon district reported 8 recoveries- the first in the district which now has 75 active cases out of the 83 confirmed cases.
As per the H&FW data, out of the total 44 infections, there are 10 active cases in Tuensang after 34 patients recovered. Phek district also reported 9 recoveries out of 17 infections, reducing the number of active cases to 8.
As for Mokokchung and Longleng district with 7 and 3 cases respectively, all the cases are still active cases.
Zunheboto meanwhile reported 3 recoveries out of 5 active cases and now has 2 active cases. Wokha, on the other hand has 1 active case.
