COVID-19: Dimapur DTF appeals for expediting hospital construction in Chümou

Dimapur, June 23 (MExN): The District Task Force Dimapur for COVID-19 has decided to bring to the attention of the Government to expedite construction of the 100 bedded abandoned hospital at Chümoukedima which can be used as Dimapur COVID hospital and later as “Infectious Diseases hospital” as in  other cities.


This was decided during a meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur Anoop Khinchi, IAS on June 23. 


According to a DIPR report, the house discussed about the need to carter to the care of normal OPD patients besides COVID-19. The DC Dimapur expressed the need to draw an action plan for addressing the problem. He informed the members that proposal for CT scan machine has been put up under ONGCs CSR initiative.


Informing that the lone Government hospital at Dimapur has been addressing only COVID-19 cases for the past 3 months, MS Dimapur, Dr Kheshito Zhimomi also highlighted the urgent need for addressing the plight of normal patients.

 

Restrictions on footpath vendor 
According to a DIPR report, the house also has decided not to allow footpath vendors to sit below the Flyover Bridge and Nyamo Lotha road “to avoid rush in the footpath and for maintaining social distance in view of the present pandemic.”

 

Need of mass awareness campaign 
Director CIHSR, Dr Sedevi emphasized on the need and importance of mass awareness campaign stating that with reliable information people would definitely co-operate with the administration. He stressed on the need to involve people from all sections of different tribes, NGOs, Churches, Samaj and others alike for creating mass campaign in educating the people in order to contain community transmission. 


The DC in agreement stated that NGOs will be trained to educate the people on the rules to be followed to keep away from Coronavirus.
