COVID-19 Horticulture Special Drive reaches Peren district

Peren, May 7 (MExN): Department of Horticulture, Commissioner Secretary, Anenla Sato along with Joint Director, Jerry Patton and Deputy Director, Moa Walling visited DHO Office, Peren and conducted COVID-19 Horticulture Special Drive with the representatives of various department on May 7 at Conference Hall, DHO Office, Peren under the theme “Grow More! Produce More! Earn More!”
Addressing the gathering, a DIPR report stated, Commissioner Secretary, Asenla Sato stated that the self sufficiency of the district in terms of horticultural crops and success of the farmers depends on District Horticulture Officers. She therefore, called upon the DHO Peren and the staff to spread awareness to the farmers even at the grassroot level so that they can produce more crops to sustain themselves instead of solely depending on the food supplied from outside.
She also encouraged everyone present to work harder cohesively and make our state self-sufficient in horticultural crops for nutritional and economic benefits. She expressed hope that “once we work together we can also contribute to the economy of Nagaland and also in the National level.”
Further, she pointed out that Peren is the one of the most potential farming district where local people are involve in agricultural and farming activities. She appealed the District Horticulture Peren Staff to apprise the local farmers to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) designed for farmers engaged in horticultural activities.
The programme was chaired by DHO Peren, Talimongba while technical inputs were briefed by Joint Director, Jerry Patton. Database was highlighted by Deputy Director Moa Walling.
The district wise special drive is an initiative of the Horticulture Department, Government of Nagaland.
