Kohima, March 23 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had a video conference on COVID-19 with all the district task forces at the Chief Secretary’s Office chamber on March 23.

 

‘No case of infection in Nagaland’ 
A DIPR report stated that Rio addressing the task force team during the video conference said that COVID -19 which is affecting the whole world has till now no case of infection in Nagaland. However, he said that we should not lower our guards and be complacent. He appealed the people for cooperation and urged them to adhere to the steps taken by the state government to prevent and contain the spread of the virus. He also stated that the medical department and all the health personal are working tirelessly to prevent the spread of the virus and are fully prepared to provide care and medical assistance to anyone who may unfortunately get infected.

 

‘Prevent spread of fake news’
He appealed to all the citizens to adopt various practices of personal hygiene and social distancing as recommended by the health authorities and urged the people to be vigil and help the authorities in preventing the spread of fake news. 


He reminded the citizens that the government has issued orders like restriction of public movement, closure of public places, offices etc as measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

 

‘Refrain from racial profiling’
He also appealed to all the section across the country to be sensitive to all communities and refrain from racial profiling and discrimination as India must move forward as one nation. He also called upon the people of the state not to panic but to be cautious to ensure that we and our dear ones do not catch the infection.
He stressed that the next few weeks will be crucial in our fight to defeat COVID -19 and with the active cooperation and support of everyone the state can overcome these difficult times.

 

No shortage of essential commodities in all districts
He directed the District Task Force lead by their respective DCs to play a crucial role in disseminating information and monitoring the situation without any complacence. He said that there is no shortage of essential commodities in all the districts and urged the public not to panic. He also instructed DCs to direct the village guards to seal the eastern borders especially the international borders. He also appealed to the travelers and students coming from outside to quarantine themselves. 

 

Additional isolation wards ready
He informed that additional isolation wards are being set up at Niathu Resort and Cricket Academy Sovima where food will be provided for the occupants by the state government. He also instructed the DCs of every district to personally inspect and report about the quarantine arrangement in their respective districts. He also urged the DCs to involve the NGOs and civil societies in mobilizing public support.
