COVID-19 Nagaland: Sample positivity rate surges to 6.11% on Sunday

The sample positivity rate in Nagaland, after maintaining low rate in the recent past, surged to 6.11% on November 14 with the detection of 19 new COVID-19 cases out of 311 samples tested. 

So far, this is the highest rate for the month of November. For instance, sample positivity rate for week ending November 6 was just 2.2% while it was 1.8% for the week ending November 12. On November 13, the sample positivity rate was just 1.01%.

In addition, the weekly positively rate in the State has been below 5% for the 16 weeks till November 12, indicated data provided by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland.

It remained to be seen whether the sudden increase on Sunday is just a one-time surge or start of a ‘new wave.’ 
Meanwhile, out of 19 fresh COVID-19 cases reported on Sunday, 15  were  in Mokokchung and there were  2 each from Dimapur and Tuensang.  

With this, the total caseload in the State increased to 31997, out of which 167 were active as of 5 PM on November 14.

The State also recorded 15 recoveries on Sunday taking the total recovered patients to 30088. The recoveries were 5 in Dimapur, 4 each in Kohima and Tuensang and 2 in Mokokchung. No deaths were reported from the state on November 14.
