Kohima, February 1 (MExN): The president of Naga People’s Front Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu has convened an emergency meeting of the party’s Central Executive Council (CEC) February 5 from 10AM onwards at NPF Central Office, Kohima.
The meeting assumes significance as it comes a day after NPF decided to extend invitation to the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) led by Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and his colleagues to ‘come together.’
A resolution regarding the same was taken at the meeting of the Working Committee NPF held on January 31, the party’s Secretary General, Achumbemo Kikon informed during a press briefing in Kohima.
He termed the possible coming together of the two regional parties as “wish of the Naga people” without elaborating further.
The February 5 meeting is expected to discuss the issue further.
In addition, polling strategy for the ensuing Manipur general election may also feature in the meeting as the NPF has resolved to contest in 10 assembly constituencies.
Meanwhile, a notification from the party requested all CEC members to attend the meeting positively.
Existing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on COVID-19 would be strictly followed at the scheduled meeting, it added.
