Family Carnival & Fun Fair, organised by the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO), started today at the State Stadium, Dimapur. The fair will continue till December 31 and will start at 5:00 pm daily. Besides the regular food stalls and games, a variety of live entertainment shows have been lined up to add to the festive atmosphere. It will feature DJ acts, stage theatre, live musical performances and drive in movie screenings.
A first of its kind in Nagaland, movie buffs will get to watch movies in the big screen from the comfort of their cars. The entry fee has been fixed at Rs 500 per car with a maximum of 4 persons. It is also open to people without cars for which the fee will be Rs 100 per person.
The timing for the movie screening is 7:00pm daily. According to the organizers, they are planning to screen two movies per evening as the carnival continues.
The DAYO also launched a 24/7 helpline number for people in distress. It said that any person from the Ao community in need of emergency assistance in Dimapur can get through to its volunteers by calling (toll free) 8974951911.
