Mon, March 30 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K, IAS in an order issued on 28th March 2019 stated that, in pursuance to the Supreme Court of India directives only fire crackers with reduced emission (improved crackers) and green crackers as certified by PESO (Petroleum Explosive Safety Organisation) will be permitted to be manufactured and sold.
That sale shall only be through licensed vendors and it shall be ensured that these licensed vendors shall sell those fire crackers which are permitted by the Supreme Court.
That only community fire cracker shall be permitted during select events of National/State/Local importance after due permission from the District Administration. Time will be fixed for crackers as per Supreme court directives.
On Diwali days or on any other festivals, when such fireworks generally take place, it shall be strictly be from 8:00PM till 10:00 PM only. On Christmas eve and New Year eve, when such fireworks start around midnight ie, 12:00 AM, it will be from 11:55 PM till 12:30 AM only.
In case any violation is found, the concerned Police Station of the area shall be held personally liable for such violation and would amount to committing contempt of Court.
