DIMAPUR, JULY 21 (MExN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) expressed dismay over the release of extortionists who were arrested in Dimapur on July 18. This was informed in a press note issued by Akashe Zhimomi Convener, Grievances Cell, DCCI. Stating that their release only negates the hard work and sincerity of the Police who had done their best to nab them despite all odds, the DCCI pointed out that if the culprits are easily let off after committing such crimes, then there will be no security to the lives and profession of the business community in particular and the public in general since those very culprits will be directly encouraged and emboldened to repeat the same criminal acts again and again.
Stating that the DCCI was not against any individual or organization, it pointed out that one could not deny the fact that extortion is a menace which impacts everyone directly or indirectly and therefore, the cooperation and willingness of all sections of the law enforcing agencies and the public are required if such crimes are to be contained.
