DCCI President Hokivi Chishi in a press release said that it is compulsory for all shops to put up Christmas as the star signifies the birth of Jesus Christ the savior. As per earlier notification to the same effect, DCCI said it would be compelled to impose penalty on any shop failing to put up a star in front of their respective shops.
Prizes will be given to the best three decorated shops. DCCI also urged police to put up festive decorations at Dillai Gate and New Field Check Gate – the two gateways to the Christian state Nagaland.
Referring to another previous notification, the DCCI president has asked all business establishments to submit a photo copy of their trade licenses to their respective frontal organizations, welfare committees and unions within 5 days for onward submission to DCCI office. Business houses and shops which do not fall under any association of committees should submit the same directly to DCCI office.
DCCI also directed all business establishments not to go for renewal of trade license till settlement (review) of the trade license rate between the Dimapur Municipal Council and DCCI. DCCI further said that despite the ban on “Christmas donation” by higher ups of all Naga national groups, some individuals are still engaged in donation drive using the name of various groups. In this regard, DCCI asked all business houses and shops not to entertain such donations.
The chamber’s body also appreciated Dimapur police for apprehending the culprits responsible for the November 22 incident at Essar Petrol Pump, Duncan Basti, wherein the accused snatched the keys of the depot. Meanwhile, DCCI has extended warm festive greetings wished every citizen of Dimapur a merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.
