DIMAPUR, JUNE 24 (MExN): The People’s Army of Nagaland, NSCN/GPRN today issued a press note declaring its loyalty to SS Khaplang. Issued by Maj Gen Niki Sumi, the declaration stated that the “unprecedented leadership crisis and subsequent commotion that has been created needed to be clarified so as to dispel any misconceptions”. “With a very clear conscience and also taking into account the historical bond the Nagas share irrespective of artificially imposed boundaries and the need to preserve the same, we hereby declare our unequivocal loyalty and reiterate our faith in the leadership of his Excellency S.S Khaplang, the Chairman and President NSCN/GPRN”, stated the press note issued by Maj Gen Niki Sumi.
According to the declaration, the “prevailing formation of various Military units spread across Naga territory remains intact and shall continue to function as such till further order”, it stated. This includes Urban Command, Kohima, Commander Maj.Kivixu Achumi; designated Camp, Suruhuto, Commander Maj.Akaho Zhimo; designated Camp, Athibung; Chakhesang Region Commander, Lt. Col.Visesayi; Ao Region, Commander, Lt. Col Chuba Ao; Sumi Region; Tisary Region and Mobile-5, Commander, Lt. Col Kurichu; Somra Region; designated Camp Sangphur-Maj Chumato and Maj.Shikaho; 2nd Brigade, Commander, Col.Yanphu and 3rd.Brigade Commander, Maj.Gen.Niki Sumi.
