•-The article on 33% Reservation: In Defence of our women by Dr, Jamedi Longkumer on 21st June, 2011 is infact an “Eye Opener” for most of us. It’s not just based on common hearsay but the Articles as laid down in our Constitution are also highlighted. The many cited reasons are not only baseless but indigestible. As opined, if the womenfolk are not discriminated, then why the big: HALA BULA”? As mentioned, the reservation in various areas for SC, ST, OBCs etc., has positive impact in our society. Likewise, the women reservation can also have the same impact. Infact, womenfolk can take some important issues which have been over sighted and overlooked by menfolk.
In the light of the above, it is very pertinent to rethink and instead of opposing its implementation, should support it. Its time for our people to move forward and get out of the vicious Cycle of Life (Stagnated Life Cycle). The Government should also on the other hand take a very decisive decision and implement it at the earliest. The time has come for us to wake up and get rid of the historical adage of the Naga Society.
