Kohima, October 15 (DIPR): All concern are informed that a special summary revision of electoral roll with reference to January 1, 2012 as qualifying date for Kohima district is in progress for which the active cooperation of all NGOs and Political Parties are invited. As directed by Election Commission of India, the Office of the DC Kohima has written to all Presidents of recognized Political Parties for appointing one Booth Level Agent (BLA) for each polling station for holding special campaigns with BLOs on October 9, 16 and 23.
Detail time schedule of the Election Commission of India is given as follows: Publication of Draft Rolls-October 1; Period for filing of Claims/Objections-October 1 to September 1; Reading of relevant part/section of Electoral Rolls in Gram Sabha /Local Bodies and RWA meetings etc & verification of names-October 8 and 11; Special Campaign Dates with Booth Level Agents of Political Parties for receiving claims- & objections- October 9, 16 & 23; Disposal of Claims & Objections by December 1; Updating the database, merging of photographs, updating the Control Tables and preparation and printing of supplementary list December 1 to 31 and final Publication of Electoral Rolls-January 5, 2012.

During the schedule all eligible candidates can file applications with the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for inclusion of names in Form-6, deletions in Form-7, correction in Form-8 and transpositions in Form-8A in the relevant parts of electoral rolls under Kohima district. BLOs are doing the rounds in respective polling areas who can be contacted for detail guidelines through concern local functionaries like VCCs, GBs, Ward Panchayat Chairmen and Ward GBs or through the district electoral authorities such as DC & DEO (office: 0370-2290355), ADC & ERO (9436832000, office: 0370-2290360) and AEO& AERO (9436004066).
Grievances Monitoring:
The said electoral authorities and the Area Administrative Officers of the district can also be contacted for lodging any genuine grievances in connection with the said revision works for redress/inquiry. The Election Commission has appointed Roll observer for the district that may make field visits in the district. For any genuine grievances he can be contacted too.
In order to maintain the fidelity of electoral rolls and to register all eligible names in the electoral rolls as per guidelines of the Commission we appeal to all political parties, NGOs and members of public to come forward and extend a helping hand to revision machineries to conduct a successful revision of electoral rolls for benefit of all concern.
