The District Education Officer-cum-District Education Mission Office, Kohima today distributed escort allowance for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) here.
Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Anoop Khinchi handed over Rs 3000 each to 80 CWSNs at the function held at Multipurpose Hall, Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School Kohima.
Kohima DMA assistant district coordinator, Thongsenlo said the allowance for the remaining 54 CWNS, who could not turn up today, will be delivered institutionally.
In his address, Khinchi stressed on the need to give proper education to CWSNs and engage them in normal and holistic activities.
The DC also asked parents and caretakers to push forward the special children to get in touch with social activities for overall growth and access to equal opportunities.
Kevileno Angami, State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland, Kohima; DEO-cum-District Project Coordinator, DMA, Y Mary Zhimomi; SSA Deputy Mission Director, Tali Jamir and Vilvino, Special Officer, Directorate of School Education were also present. The distribution programme was followed by sports activities for CWSN.
