Dimapur, December 20 (MExN): The Department of Excise, Dimapur comprising of various units carried out raids in and around Dimapur town from December 1 to 16.
As per a press release from T Arilong Longkumer, Superintendent of Excise, Dimapur, 1607 bottles of assorted IMFL were seized during the raid. In this connection, 15 accused were arrested and penalized under the relevant section of the NLTP Act. In another incident on December 7, Dimapur Excise duty party on regular frisking manning Excise check gate, Chümoukedima, seized 243 bottles of assorted IMFL from one vehicle bearing registration no. NL 07C 9089.
The Excise duty party was led by in-charge Mainshila AIE, Hushika H/C, Kiyevi H/C, constables Sorenthung, Akahoto, Jungshi, Khalingthong, Chingjei and women constables Amenla and Kiyerangzalei. The lone accused, the release said was booked and the seixed items were deposited in the District Mal khana. The Excise Department further said that in view of the ensuing festive season and to curb the inflow of liquor in the state, check gate vigilance has been heightened and raids will be conducted from to time.
