Kohima, December 3 (MExN): Along with the rest of the country the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) and National Pension Scheme (NPS) Special Enrolment Drive, celebration of Pension Week was officially launched by the Department of Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in the Civil Secretariat conference hall, Kohima on November 30.
Advisor, Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Imnatiba Ao speaking as the special guest said that the successive government over the last five decades have been coming up with various flagship programme and schemes for all round development in all sectors and for all sections of people and the society as a whole.
He opined that one should introspect and retrospect on whether the state of Nagaland has been doing justice to all the schemes and programmes and policies of the government of India.
The Advisor also said that the present government in the centre led by the visionary leader such as PM Narendra Modi has also introduced lots of policies and programmes which would benefit the people and also bring all sections of the people at par. He briefed on the recent policies of the central government for a cashless economy. He said that our people need to be disciplined to catch up with the changes that are taking place at the central level.
He said that through programme such as PM-SYM and NPS traders, people can be educated and the approach to government schemes can be disciplined. He said that the targets to be met were huge - 24,600 beneficiaries for PM-SYM and 8700 beneficiaries for NPS traders.
The keynote address was delivered by Project Officer, Labour Department, T. Chubayanger. He appraised the gathering on the unorganized workers and the self-employed. He said that state Labour Department is the agency which is facilitating the scheme and the State Common Service Centre (CSC) which under IT&C have been given all the required parameters. Monthly premium also will be determined by the system and the premium will be dependent on the year of entry, he added.
Chubayanger requested all the line departments for cooperation for successful implementation of the programme in the state and encouraged the people to be foresighted so as to avail the opportunities that is in the offing. He announced that the concerned departments are planning on awareness campaign in collaboration with CSC to reach all pockets of the society. Commissioner & Secretary, R Asenla Keitzar, IAS chaired the meeting.
