Dept of Social Welfare bids farewell to retiring Director

Kohima, NOVEMBER 1 (MExN): The Department of Social Welfare (DoSW), Kohima bid farewell to the outgoing Director, Merangtsungba Aier in a farewell function organised at SIRD Auditorium, Kohima on October 29.
The department in a press release stated that the Officers and Staff of the department of Social Welfare paid tribute expressing fond memories and his contribution to the growth of the department. Short speeches were delivered by representatives of the Ministerial staff, Directorate, District Welfare Officers, District Programme Officers, All Nagaland CDPO Association, Supervisors, NSSWB and also by the former Director, Khevito T Shohe.
Sarah Ritse, Secretary Social Welfare delivering a short speech during the occasion said that the team under the leadership of Merangtsungba is one of the best team she has worked with and she wished him a happy retired life. Further, she said that it is a blessing to reach gracefully retirement age with sound health and mind.
In his farewell speech, outgoing Director said that if he deserves respect and honour it is only because of the persons within the officers and staff of the department. He said that the department is a service provider department catering to the needs from the start of life till death and hence everyone has huge responsibilities especially towards the needs of the needy and the disabled. And all these welfare activities rendered are done at the expense of the Government and we should take the extra step to deliver. He said that at end of the journey of our service we will be left with a question as to what is success is life? He said that success in life come first with falling in love with our work and at the end of the day having a reason to smile. He challenged the department to march ahead giving in our best effort with full sincerity for the welfare of the unprivileged and needy which will bring in the reason for a smile which is the real success.
Atoli Sema in her farewell speech said that the outgoing director has been a role model with his ever ready attitude for support and encouragement. She said that it is an honour to retire so gracefully with glorious achievement like him and it is an example which she urged everyone to inculcate. An emotional reminiscence down the memory lane was also displayed through video during the programme.
The programme was chaired by Chubaienla, Joint Director while invocation was pronounced by Rev Mhalevilie Yongo, Lead Pastor, Victory Church of all Nations, Kohima and the words of gratitude by Joint Director, Michael Zaren.
