Dimapur, January 3 (MExN): The Naga Council today issued a statement today strongly echoing common public sentiments that the Naga citizens are now too weary of listening to the conflicts and arguments of the groups unless the “tone and language” is of peace.
“Naga Council is of the opinion that every citizen deserves to start the year 2012 on a right and optimistic note and such should be a matter of choice not subject to the whims and whimsies of armed groups fighting on extraneous grounds, like control of more territory and the lucrative financial market of Dimapur, which is selfish and an utter disregard to the sincere prayers for peace by the people of this state,” the Naga Council stated.
The council’s statement was issued through general secretary Ntsemo Ngullie and finance secretary Joel Nillo Kath.
Recently, the council said, both the warring factions of the NSCNs have been arguing and justifying their respective positions but the council is of the opinion that ‘Naga people are in no mood to listen anymore until and unless the tone and language is of peace.’
The organization has asked the Naga political groups to desist from factional fights “and any other abhorrent activities,” which may ‘shatter the relative peace brought about by the forum for Naga Reconciliation.’ Cracks are appearing in the fragile peace due to the clashes between the GPRN/NSCN and NSCN (K), the organization reminded.
The Naga Council reminded the groups – “The recent rally in Zuhneboto where thousands of people took to the streets against factional fights is an instance of frustration, anguish and cry of the people.
The 29th October ‘Black Day’ observed in Dimapur district under the aegis of Naga Council and like-minded organizations where thousands of people waved black flags and condemned extortion, rape, kidnapping and any kind of anti-social activities should be an eye-opener and not-to-be-repeated-activities for 2012.” The council also appeals to every citizen of Nagaland to pray for peace.
