Development projects in villages under Mon district launched

Advisor Bongkhao and others at Micro Vortex Turbine at Yongkhao village launched on March 14. 
 

Mon, March 14 (MExN): Moving on to reach the remote backward areas with development initiatives, Advisor for Department of Underdeveloped Areas (DUDA), Bongkhao Konyak inaugurated two major projects under Tobu-subdivision in Mon district.


The advisor inaugurated the Bailey bridge connecting Tobu in Mon and Auching village in Longleng district at Yetyong and launched the process of providing electricity supply to Yongkhao village, both under Tobu sub-division in Mon district on March 14. Both projects are under Backward Area Development Project (BADP), stated a press release received here. 

 

In his address at Yetyong, where three communities– Konyak, Chang and Phom had gathered for the official inauguration, the Advisor expressed hope that the opening of the bridge will bring closer the people of the three communities in the area. He asked them to forgive and forget the past mistake and move towards development and progress in unity.


Bongkhao while asserting that the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has concern for the welfare of the people from remote backward areas. In this, he sought the cooperation and support of the three communities so that government schemes reach the grassroots.


DUDA Director K S Anden Konyak shared the various schemes and activities under the department for the backward areas.


President of Phom Peoples’ Council H Tenchem Phom, Chairman of Tobu Village N Leangin and Chairman of Auching Village K Moba also delivered short speeches, wherein they lauded the DUDA department got providing the much needed connectivity between the two villages.


DUDA Executive Engineer N Imti Chang presented a brief technical report on the construction of the bridge.


Chaired by president of Tobu Village Students Union A Sangti, welcome address was delivered by president Konyak Union Branch Tobu and vote of thanks was delivered by former president of KU(B) Tobu. Pastor of Tobu Village Baptist Church, Phuhlem Phom offered the dedicatory prayer.


At Yangkhao, Advisor Konyak launched an initiative of DUDA to provide electricity to the village through Micro Vortex Turbine in partnership with Zynorique Initiatives, Nagaland.


In his speech, the local MLA appealed to the villagers or the landowners not to hinder development initiatives of the government and also not create problem for those reaching the far-flung area to carried out the works.
Maintain peace and tranquility and development and progress will follow suit, Bongkhao said.


In her brief report about the project, Joint Director of DUDA, Dr Anungla Imdong Phom the gravitation water vortex power plant is a type of micro hydro vortex turbine system which is capable of converting energy in a moving fluid to rotational energy using a low hydraulic head of 0.7-3 Metres.


The vortex turbine is envisaged to change the lives of people living in far flung areas of Nagaland, she said.
She also asserted that the company involved in the project would take care of vortex for a year till power supply reaches to every house in the village.


Managing Director of Zynorique Initiatives, Richard Belho also shared on the setting up of the turbine.
Chaired by Yongkhao village SU president C Shenok, the programme started with prayer by Deacon of Yongkhao Baptist Church, Anden.


A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the village and DUDA. Yongkhao Village Council secretary T Khole signed on behalf of the village while DUDA Director KS Anden Konyak signed for the department.
Officials of district administration, DUDA officials and GBs and villagers were also present on the occasion.
